Gaza seminar held by Ng Teng Fong· Sino Group Belt and Road Research Institute
Silk Road – Hong Kong – On November 6, 2025, the Ng Teng Fong· Sino Group Belt and Road Research Institute at the Hong Kong Chu Hai College held an online seminar on “Gaza’s future after the war”. Participants included Professor Ahmed Yousef Saleh from Gaza, Professor Ayman Yousef from Ramallah, West Bank, Professor Sami Al-Arian from Istanbul – Turkey, and Dr. Haytham Mouzahem a NSBRRI fellow from Hong Kong. The seminar was moderated by Dr. Zeinab Farhadi.
Prof. Ahmed Youssef Saleh, focused on the humanitarian and living conditions in the Gaza Strip during the war and after the cease fire. He spoke about the suffering of Gaza’s residents based on his personal experience and observations during and after the war. He also discussed potential scenarios in the Gaza Strip.
Prof. Sami A. al-Arian spoke on “The Strategic and Future Implications of Toufan Al-Aqsa (October’s 7 Attack)”. He focused on the reasons that led to the October’s 7 attack. He spoke about Israeli policies of occupation and annexation of the occupied Palestinian territories in the West Bank, the siege of the Gaza Strip for two decades, and Israel’s exploitation of the Oslo Accords to establish a new reality of settlement and annexation of East Jerusalem and large areas of the West Bank and displacement of the Palestinian population, as well as the ongoing wars on the Gaza Strip and the continuous attacks and arrests of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza.
Prof. Ayman Talal Yousef spoke on “Gaza war 2023: hard realities and future scenarios”. He reviewed the Israeli and American approaches to the day after Gaza and the future of the Palestinian cause amidst the Palestinian division between the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah and the Hamas government in Gaza.
Dr. Haytham Mouzahem commented on some points raised by the three speakers. Then, several attendees in the Chu Hai College auditorium and others participating online also spoke and contributed to the discussion.
