By Dr. Haytham Mouzahem** –
Iranian writer, translator, and Middle East Strategic Research Center expert Amina Soleimani recently told People’s Daily Online that China’s success is not solely based on a strong economy or advanced technology, but rather is “a civilizational success rooted in human history.” On the international stage, China has achieved a unique and prominent position by integrating its fine traditional culture with its own development practices.
Soleimani believes that the phenomenon of Chinese civilization holds the key to unlocking the secrets of China’s successful development. Chinese civilization is the only one in the world to have continued uninterrupted to this day, possessing strong vitality and cohesion. Throughout history, Chinese culture has interacted with diverse cultures, including Buddhism, Islam, and Christianity. However, some foreign cultural forms have taken on new characteristics under the influence of Chinese philosophical thought.
Soleimani believes that the unique qualities of Chinese culture are fully reflected in its foreign policy. Chinese culture emphasizes the value of harmony and the pursuit of universal peace. China’s foreign policy emphasizes mutual respect, non-interference in other countries’ internal affairs, and opposition to hegemony and extremism. Thanks to China’s diplomatic wisdom and mediation, Iran and Saudi Arabia have achieved strategic reconciliation, contributing to regional peace and stability.
Soleimani said Iran and China have a traditional friendship, with the ancient Silk Road connecting the two countries. Today, the two countries are steadily developing a strategic partnership based on mutual respect and understanding.
Soleimani is a translator. She is collaborating with Chinese experts to translate literary works from Chinese into Persian into Arabic. “Chinese literature spans thousands of years and is rich in philosophy. Many novels reflect the authors’ reflections on the relationship between the individual and society, human nature and nature, and how to cope with social changes. In this process, I have deepened my understanding of the Chinese cultural spirit.” Soleimani stated that many Chinese literary works are deeply imbued with elements of China’s fine traditional culture, such as its acceptance of change, its emphasis on stability, and its pursuit of beauty. By reading Chinese literature, readers from all over the world can gain a deeper understanding of China’s fine traditional culture and re-examine the common challenges facing humanity and the solutions to them.
